However, despite significant spending, Lopetegui failed to deliver consistent results and was dismissed midway through the campaign in January.
His replacement, Graham Potter, has had limited impact so far, though it’s worth noting he’s only made one signing since taking over—Evan Ferguson, who joined on loan from Brighton in January and has since returned to his parent club.
Now, with a full summer window ahead, Potter is expected to reshape the squad and is prioritising reinforcements in attack.
According to FootballTransfers, West Ham view Calvert-Lewin as a prime candidate to lead their forward line next season.
The England international is seen as an “ideal replacement” for Michail Antonio, who is expected to leave the club once his contract expires this summer.
Calvert-Lewin, whose own deal at Everton is nearing its end, is likely to be on the move as well.
The 27-year-old has been at Goodison Park since 2016 and has shown flashes of top-tier ability when fit. However, his career has been hampered by recurring injury issues.
SalarySport reports that Calvert-Lewin currently earns £120,000 per week, and Everton appear ready to part ways rather than renew those terms. West Ham, however, are reportedly open to offering him a better package.
With Danny Ings having already exited as a free agent and Niklas Fullkrug enduring injury setbacks last season, West Ham are in need of reliable attacking options.
