Greg Lincoln appointed to key academy role
Greg Lincoln has been appointed as West Ham’s new Head of Coaching and Development.
The former Arsenal academy player, who never made a first-team appearance for the Gunners, later built a strong reputation in youth coaching.
After retiring from playing, Lincoln returned to Arsenal as a youth coach before joining the Football Association, where he held key roles with the England youth teams.
He served as head coach of the under-16s and eventually moved up to the under-17s.
According to ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham Way (July 23), Lincoln was hired by West Ham following his departure from the FA last month and will officially begin his duties on September 1.
Track record of developing young talent
During his time with the FA, Lincoln played a role in developing several of England’s brightest prospects. He was part of the coaching staff that led the England under-19s to victory at the 2022 European Championships.
Notable players like Liam Delap, Jarell Quansah, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens all came under his guidance at crucial stages of their growth.
West Ham hope Lincoln’s expertise will positively influence rising talents such as Freddie Potts, enhancing the club’s youth development pipeline at Rush Green.
