According to Gerry Dulac, a Pittsburgh Steelers correspondent, the team has officially secured the services of tight end MyCole Pruitt. Pruitt, who is entering his tenth season in the NFL at 32 years old, brings a wealth of experience to the Steelers roster.
The decision to sign Pruitt aligns seamlessly with his history with the Steelers’ new offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith. Smith previously coached Pruitt as the tight ends coach in 2018 and later served as his offensive coordinator during the 2019 and 2020 seasons when they were both with the Tennessee Titans.
Following Smith’s transition to head coach for the Atlanta Falcons, Pruitt joined him, playing for the Falcons during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Pruitt’s addition bolsters the Steelers’ tight end corps, offering a seasoned veteran who possesses an intimate understanding of Smith’s offensive system. While his roster spot is not guaranteed, Pruitt’s familiarity with the playbook could give him an advantage over Rodney Williams, positioning him favorably as a potential fourth-string tight end for the team.
