Tottenham Hotspur open talks over potential move for Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz, according to TEAMtalk.

After turning to Thomas Frank as their new head coach last summer, Tottenham Hotspur have endured a frustrating Premier League season to date.

The north London side currently find themselves stuck in the bottom half of the table, having collected just 28 points from 23 league outings, a return that has fallen well below expectations.

In stark contrast, Spurs have thrived on the European stage.

They produced an outstanding Champions League league-phase campaign, finishing inside the top eight and ahead of several continental heavyweights, including Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Newcastle United.

Remarkably, Tottenham also ended above Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona, suffering just a single defeat along the way.

With the January transfer window due to close on Monday, Tottenham appear to be acting with urgency as they look to bolster their squad and give Frank the tools needed to spark a turnaround in the second half of the campaign.

Business has already been done, with the club reinforcing key areas by bringing in Conor Gallagher to strengthen the midfield and Souza to provide cover at left-back.

Attention has now seemingly shifted towards the attack. According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are showing strong interest in Diaz and have already made initial contact to gather information regarding a potential move.

The Moroccan international has struggled for consistent minutes at Real Madrid and is believed to be open to a switch that would allow him to play more regularly and continue his development.

His representatives are actively sounding out options, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United also among the clubs to have held discussions, alongside Tottenham.

Elsewhere, Serie A newcomers Como are monitoring Diaz as a possible successor to Nico Paz, who is widely expected to return to Real Madrid next summer.

While Los Blancos are reluctant to weaken their squad midway through the season, a departure before the February 2 deadline has not been ruled out.

Diaz is currently valued at around £30 million by Transfermarkt, and his contract runs until the end of next season.

Despite his limited opportunities at the Santiago Bernabéu, the 26-year-old underlined his quality during Morocco’s recent AFCON campaign.

A versatile attacker capable of operating across multiple attacking midfield roles, Diaz could prove to be an excellent acquisition if Tottenham manage to secure his signature before the window closes.
