However, negotiations with Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, are expected to be challenging, as Boras is renowned for maximizing his clients’ contracts. Soto’s exceptional talent could command a contract worth over $500 million, and Boras is likely to pursue every dollar of that potential deal.
Despite Boras also representing other notable players like Cody Bellinger, Jordan Montgomery, Blake Snell, and Matt Chapman, who remain unsigned as Spring Training commences, it’s improbable that Boras will settle for anything less than top dollar for Soto, widely regarded as one of the best hitters in baseball.
The arrival of Soto presents the Yankees with an opportunity to pair him with Aaron Judge, forming a formidable batting lineup. Now, the onus is on the Yankees’ front office to demonstrate to Soto that New York is the ideal destination for him to continue his career.
