Sky Sports: Leeds United Engaged in Direct Talks for Another Attacking Talent, Possible Move on the Horizon
Leeds United in Talks with Roland Sallai Over Potential Move to Elland Road, Reports Sky Sports Germany.
According to a report on 27 August, Leeds United are considering a move for Freiberg’s 27-year-old Hungarian international, who could depart the Bundesliga club before the transfer window closes.
Leeds have expressed their interest and are currently in discussions with the player’s representatives, but the outcome remains uncertain.
Additionally, an unnamed Ligue 1 club is also competing for his signature.
Sky Sports’ Philipp Hinze noted on X that the player, Sallai, is “open” to taking on a new challenge this summer.
Meanwhile, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that Leeds are “pushing hard” to secure the deal for a fee of £7.6 million.
Leeds United Close in on Reinforcements
After losing two of their top attacking talents, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Leeds United have finally moved to strengthen their squad.
They have already signed Largie Ramazani on a permanent deal and are close to finalizing a loan move for Manor Solomon from Tottenham [David Ornstein, 26 August].
However, Leeds must remain vigilant as a French club is also in the race for Sallai, especially after a Dutch club attempted to hijack the Solomon deal [Fabrizio Romano, 27 August].
With Sallai having less than a year left on his contract, the 52-cap international could be available for a reduced fee.
If all three players arrive, Leeds manager Daniel Farke will have several options in the wide areas.
Yet, the club still needs to bring in a midfielder, a full-back, and potentially a striker, with limited time left in the transfer window.
Leeds are reportedly set to make another bid for FC Koln midfielder Dejan Ljubicic [Daily Mail, 27 August], while Max Aarons is the favored choice at full-back [Yorkshire Evening Post, 26 August].
