Newcastle plan ambitious £60m move for Premier League star to outpace Liverpool and Arsenal.

Newcastle United are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer after their initial approach was rejected.
The 25-year-old, valued at £60 million, has caught Newcastle’s attention with his outstanding performances in west London this season.
Despite a previous bid being turned down, Newcastle remain hopeful of securing Mbeumo, according to The Mirror.
The Brentford star is enjoying his best Premier League campaign, making it unlikely the club would part with him before the transfer window closes next week unless an exceptional offer is made.
Mbeumo has been among the league’s top scorers this season, with only Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah, and Alexander Isak finding the net more frequently.
In 23 matches, he has scored 14 goals and provided three assists, including goals against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle in Brentford’s 4-2 home win in December.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has praised Mbeumo as the best penalty-taker in the league.
His flawless penalty record continued last weekend when he converted a retaken spot-kick in a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
The Cameroon international is one of only five Premier League players to have maintained a perfect penalty record, scoring all nine attempts.
Although Mbeumo’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, Brentford have the option to extend it by another year.
Given Newcastle’s financial constraints under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), their only realistic chance of signing him this month would be through a player-swap deal.
Interest in Mbeumo is not limited to Newcastle. Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring him, with uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future at Anfield and Bukayo Saka sidelined by injury.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have experienced a resurgence since September.
After winning just four of their first 13 matches, they have now secured 10 victories in their last 11 games across all competitions.
Eddie Howe’s side is also on course to reach the Carabao Cup final after gaining a crucial advantage over Arsenal at the Emirates earlier this month.
However, Howe is keen to avoid over-reliance on Isak, who has been in exceptional form, scoring 19 goals in all competitions, including 11 in his last eight games.
Signing Mbeumo would bolster Newcastle’s attacking options, complementing Anthony Gordon, who plays on the left and has scored five times in his last eight matches.
