The careers of two former West Ham players appear to have hit difficult patches, according to emerging reports.
Unverified claims suggest that ex-Hammers centre-back Luizao has been released by Brazilian Serie B club Criciúma EC.
The defender signed a short-term contract at the end of September, which is thought to have run out in November.
He featured only once for the side, and if the rumours prove accurate, the 23-year-old will soon be searching for a new team.
Luizao originally joined West Ham in January 2023 on a free transfer from São Paulo. He quickly established himself as a mainstay in the Academy setup, making 56 appearances, scoring five goals and registering one assist.
Last season, he spent a spell on loan with Polish outfit Pogoń Szczecin, where he made four senior appearances and played twice for their reserve team.
His stay at West Ham officially ended in August 2025, when his contract was mutually terminated.
Zouma’s Troubling Spell in Romania
Elsewhere, fellow former Hammer Kurt Zouma is also experiencing a challenging period.
The French defender, once presented as a marquee addition for Romanian giants CFR Cluj, has struggled to make an impact.
Since signing, he has played only four times — amounting to 107 minutes — with injuries severely restricting his involvement.
This follows a more active year with Al-Orobah in Saudi Arabia, where he made 19 appearances.
Despite being tied to Cluj until June 2027, reports indicate that the club and Zouma are discussing an early exit.
Club president Iuliu Mureșan told Fanatik: “Zouma is injured. I think a winter change is possible. It’s hard for him to play football at this level anymore.”
Both players now face crucial turning points in their careers, and their next moves remain uncertain.
