BOMBSHELL: Leeds-linked INTERNATIONAL STAR with 35 caps heading for Monday medical in MASSIVE transfer that could rock the Championship!

Leeds United appear set to miss out on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.

Leeds United appear set to miss out on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, despite showing strong interest in the Northern Ireland international earlier in the transfer window.

The Whites reportedly made offers worth more than £20 million for the 22-year-old but were unable to reach an agreement with Southampton.

Charles was an unused substitute during the Saints’ 2-0 EFL Cup victory over Colchester United on Saturday, before appearing to bid farewell to the supporters after the final whistle.

That moment now looks significant, with Fulham reportedly closing in on a deal for the midfielder.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Charles is expected to undergo a medical with Fulham on Monday after the Cottagers agreed a package that could eventually rise to £30 million.

Charles has also reportedly agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Fulham, making it increasingly unlikely that Leeds will secure his signature.

Leeds’ decision to walk away from the deal appears to have been driven by their valuation of the player.

Although Charles is highly regarded, the club were unwilling to meet Southampton’s demands once the asking price moved beyond their preferred limit.

Daniel Farke must now decide whether to pursue another midfield target or concentrate on other areas of the squad.

Leeds already have several midfield options, meaning recruitment could now focus on strengthening the attack and defence.

A new striker or versatile forward could be prioritised, while another left-back, a backup goalkeeper for James Trafford and potentially another centre-back are also believed to be areas requiring attention.
