Postecoglou Needs to Closely Assess the Performances of Tottenham’s Young Loan Duo
Ange Postecoglou Should Keep a Closer Eye on Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine After Their Performances in Belgium.
The Spurs duo, on loan at Jupiler Pro League side Westerlo, played the full 90 minutes in a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Club Brugge on Boxing Day (26 December).
Both players found the net, with the Croatian producing a spectacular bicycle kick to equalize, while the Englishman also scored an equalizer during the match.
Despite their efforts, Westerlo ultimately lost due to a late winner from Brugge.
The Tottenham loanees are excelling in Belgium, even though Westerlo sits 11th in the league table.
Croatian defender Vuskovic has been particularly impressive, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 20 league appearances this season.
His attacking contributions highlight his potential to address Spurs’ defensive issues.
However, due to Brexit regulations, Premier League clubs cannot register foreign players under 18, leaving Vuskovic ineligible for a mid-season recall.
Meanwhile, English midfielder Devine has also shown promise, scoring three goals in 14 league matches this campaign.
At 20, he has struggled to establish himself in Tottenham’s first team despite becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the FA Cup win over Marine on 10 January 2021.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou should closely monitor their progress, particularly Vuskovic, whose attacking prowess from the back could be a valuable asset for the team in the future.
Both players are showcasing their potential to make an impact at a higher level.
