‘Not interested’: Man United player hesitant about joining Leicester City in latest van Nistelrooy setback – Romano
Leicester City anticipated links with multiple Manchester United players during the January transfer window.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is a Manchester United legend, celebrated for his achievements as a player and his recent stint as interim manager of the Red Devils, during which he went unbeaten.
At 48 years old, van Nistelrooy departed Old Trafford in November, paving the way for Ruben Amorim to take over as manager.

Leicester City, under van Nistelrooy’s watch, identified several targets as part of their recruitment strategy.

Fabrizio Romano’s Update on Victor Lindelof
Last month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Leicester were interested in signing Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof.
The Swedish center-back’s contract with United runs until 2025, but no formal discussions were initiated between the two clubs.
Lindelof is reportedly considering his options for the future, though a departure from Old Trafford is not imminent.
Van Nistelrooy, keen on bolstering Leicester’s defensive line, saw Lindelof as an ideal candidate due to his Premier League experience.
However, Romano recently reported that Lindelof has no interest in joining Leicester, particularly given their ongoing relegation battle.
“For Leicester, despite the links with Victor Lindelof, I’m not sure the player is keen on leaving Manchester United to go to Leicester in January.
But just in general, I think Leicester will be busy in January,” Romano told GiveMeSport.
Leicester City’s Transfer Challenges
The January transfer window has proven frustrating for Leicester fans.
The club is grappling with the prospect of a points deduction for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR), remains second-bottom in the Premier League, and has yet to make any signings.

Despite these setbacks, van Nistelrooy remains determined to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline.

“We’re in the middle of the process. It’s clear where we want to strengthen. We’re working on that day and night.
I feel a strong responsibility to get the right players in. It’s a delicate process.
It takes time and requires a lot of effort to bring in the right players.
“We’ve been creating a style of play, and players who fit into that profile are the ones who can deliver better results.
Those are the profiles we’ve been discussing with recruitment and the people responsible for signing these players.
This process started in December, and we hope to present something soon.”
