Despite Ange Postecoglou’s earlier indication that transfers were unlikely at this stage, Tottenham might be on the verge of finalizing a late deal this month. On Tuesday, he stated, “Look, unlikely I’d say… I don’t see any incomings. Outgoings a little bit different because I’m not totally engaged with that, other people are doing the work around that. I’d say unlikely on both fronts without ruling anything out.”
Yet, this assessment quickly became outdated as, within hours, reports surfaced in the Daily Mail suggesting that Tottenham is in discussions with Brighton regarding a potential move for Bryan Gil. The 22-year-old, despite a series of attacking injuries, has featured in only nine league games this season, starting just two. Gil was on the bench as an unused substitute during the recent 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Manchester City. Having arrived in north London in 2021, he has already been on two loans. Brighton is reportedly considering a temporary move for Gil to enhance their squad depth and continue challenging for a position in the top four or five.
