The future of Leicester City loanee Facundo Buonanotte is set to be decided soon, with Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler confirming that talks with the Argentina international will take place in the coming weeks.

The 20-year-old forward has spent the season on loan at Leicester, who were relegated, and is due to face Brighton team-mate Julio Enciso—currently on loan at Ipswich Town, another relegated side—when Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester take on the Tractor Boys at the King Power Stadium this Sunday.

Buonanotte has recorded six goals and four assists this season. He made a strong start under former manager Steve Cooper but has seen limited success under the current head coach.

However, he recently made headlines after scoring a late equaliser off the bench in a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest, damaging their Champions League hopes.

Enciso, 21, has made a solid impact at Ipswich, contributing two goals and three assists during his loan spell.

Despite their loan stints nearing an end, both players’ long-term futures remain unclear. Hurzeler has indicated that Brighton will now begin reassessing the situations of all returning loanees.

“Every player with a contract at our club who’s on loan is a potential first-team player for us,” Hurzeler told Sussex World.

“We closely monitor their development because giving them attention is key.”

He emphasized that Brighton remain engaged with loanees throughout the season.

“We have two excellent loan managers who are in constant contact with the players. They work with them and support their development,” he said.

“It’s important to understand the profile of each loan player and whether we need that profile in our squad next season.

We’ll have those conversations with the players as soon as possible.”

Hurzeler added that some loanees will return for pre-season training and be evaluated further before decisions are made on their futures.
