Everton are reportedly “advancing on a deal” to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish on loan for the 2025/26 season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
David Moyes, who returned to the club in January 2025 after a 12-year absence, successfully steered Everton away from the Premier League’s relegation zone, guiding them to a safe mid-table finish.
This stability has allowed the club to focus on building for the new campaign.
In the first summer transfer window under the Friedkin Group’s ownership, Everton have already made four new signings.
Alongside the permanent acquisition of Carlos Alcaraz, whose loan was converted into a full deal, they have brought in striker Thierno Barry, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, goalkeeper Mark Travers, and defender Adam Aznou.
The Toffees had shown interest in Southampton prospect Tyler Dibling, but negotiations stalled as Everton were unwilling to meet the Saints’ valuation.
Their main focus, however, appears to be on securing Grealish, with Romano offering encouraging updates on the situation.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed Everton’s persistence, stating:
“Everton keep working and advancing on a deal for Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City.”
He later reiterated this on Sunday morning, once again emphasising that talks were progressing positively.
Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-record £100 million fee but has struggled to fully replicate the form he displayed at Villa Park.
His 2024/25 campaign was particularly challenging, with limited appearances and a dip in form.
City’s summer signing of Rayan Cherki has further fuelled speculation about Grealish’s future, as it could reduce his playing time even more.
A move to Everton could offer the England international a fresh start away from the pressure of his price tag.
Under Moyes, he could recapture the creativity, dribbling flair, and attacking spark that made him one of the Premier League’s most exciting players during his Villa days.
Additionally, securing Grealish on loan would allow Everton to preserve funds for strengthening other areas of the squad, potentially making the deal even more appealing.
While an agreement has yet to be finalised, should the move go through, Grealish could become a transformative addition to Moyes’ Everton side for the upcoming season.
