Leicester City managed to retain left-back Victor Kristiansen over the summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Foxes finished in the bottom three alongside Southampton and Ipswich Town but are determined to secure an immediate return to the top flight from the Championship.

Kristiansen, 22, joined Leicester in 2023 and remains under contract at the King Power Stadium until June 2028. However, questions are being raised about his long-term future with the club.

According to journalist Blackwell, as cited by HullLive, “Victor Kristiansen was first-choice left-back on loan at Champions League-qualifying Bologna the last time Leicester were in the Championship, and so the fact he now finds himself struggling to even make the bench may mean he seeks a move away in January.”

Nottingham Forest reportedly showed interest in the Danish defender back in August when Nuno Espírito Santo was still their head coach, as revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs on X.

Despite the speculation, no deal materialised before the transfer deadline on September 1, and Kristiansen remained a Leicester City player.

Leicester originally brought Kristiansen in during their Premier League campaign to strengthen their defensive options.

Since arriving, he has made 47 appearances across all competitions, with 31 coming last season.

However, his opportunities have significantly decreased this term in the Championship.

A Denmark international with 18 senior caps, Kristiansen rose through the youth system at FC Copenhagen, featuring regularly across various age levels.

He eventually broke into the first team and went on to make 73 appearances, scoring once, before earning his move to Leicester.

During his first year in England, he spent time on loan with Bologna, where he enjoyed consistent game time.

Now, both Kristiansen and Leicester face an important decision.

Having fallen out of favour, the young full-back could consider a move elsewhere in search of regular minutes, with a January exit increasingly plausible.

Leicester, meanwhile, are adapting under new head coach Marti Cifuentes, who took over following their return to the Football League after leaving QPR late last season.

The Foxes currently sit third in the Championship table with 16 points from their opening nine matches, trailing only Coventry City and Middlesbrough.

They remain inside the play-off spots alongside Preston North End, Stoke City, and QPR.

Cifuentes’ side will look to build on their 3-1 away win over Swansea City before the international break as they prepare to host Portsmouth this weekend, hoping to maintain their promotion momentum.
