Fitness coach departs after 13 years
Mitch Willis, Leicester’s long-serving strength and power coach, has announced his departure after 13 years with the club.
A key figure during the 2016 Premier League title win, Willis joined from Leicester Tigers in 2012 and is now moving on to become head of performance services with British Weight Lifting.
The club had already begun advertising for his replacement earlier this season.
Adrien Silva retires
Former Leicester midfielder Adrien Silva has officially retired at age 36.
The Portuguese player, whose £22 million transfer from Sporting Lisbon in 2017 was infamously delayed by 14 seconds past the deadline, endured a frustrating spell at the King Power Stadium.
Unable to debut until January 2018, Silva made only 21 appearances before leaving a year later.
Despite his struggles, several ex-teammates, including Ricardo Pereira and Hamza Choudhury, paid tribute to him on social media.
David Nugent returns to football
At the other end of the career spectrum, ex-City favourite David Nugent has come out of retirement to join non-league side Anstey Nomads as a player-coach.
Now 40, Nugent made a brief appearance in the club’s 1-0 win over Loughborough Students in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands.
Youth sides experience mixed fortunes
Leicester’s Under-21s suffered another setback after squandering a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3 to Charlton in the Premier League Cup.
It’s the second time in three matches they’ve surrendered a big advantage, extending a poor run of seven defeats and one draw in their last eight.
By contrast, the Under-18s continue to impress, securing a fifth straight win by beating Brighton 2-1, with Lorenz Hutchinson scoring twice to reach eight goals in six games.
England call-up decision looms
Young midfielder Louis Page faces an anxious wait ahead of England’s Under-17 World Cup squad announcement.
Having recently been promoted to the Under-20s, his inclusion is uncertain. If selected, he could miss up to six Leicester games during the tournament, which runs from November 3 to 27.
