TalkSPORT pundit defends Tottenham player valued at £20m, believes criticism is excessive

A pundit has come to the defense of a Tottenham player amid criticism from supporters, as the club prepares for significant changes under Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Former Ipswich Town midfielder Darren Ambrose, speaking on TalkSPORT, supported Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, emphasizing his quality despite receiving considerable criticism at Spurs.

“He’s faced a lot of criticism at Spurs,” Ambrose noted. “But I think he’s a good player who performs when needed. He’s passionate too, as seen in his celebrations when making crucial clearances off the line. He thrives on it.”

Ambrose also highlighted Hojbjerg’s versatility, suggesting a more advanced role could suit him well, similar to his duties with Denmark.

Hojbjerg is reportedly on his way out of Tottenham, with interest from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce and Serie A’s AC Milan, who are considering a bid around £17m.

Currently representing Denmark at the European Championships in Germany, any potential transfer is likely to occur post-tournament.

Tottenham’s negotiations, including potential departures like Hojbjerg and Djed Spence, have been ongoing, with fees posing a significant hurdle. Chairman Daniel Levy, known for his tough stance in negotiations, is determined not to undervalue any departing players.
