“Unlikely” | West Ham Target Arsenal Striker Eddie Nketiah

According to Football Insider, West Ham United have included Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah on their striker shortlist this summer.

Pete O’Rourke revealed on the Football Insider’s ‘Inside Track Podcast’ that the Hammers are eyeing a move for 25-year-old Eddie Nketiah, as Julen Lopetegui urgently seeks to bolster his striker options before the season starts.

However, West Ham must act quickly, as Olympique Marseille are also interested in the English striker. According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, the Ligue 1 giants have submitted an initial proposal to Arsenal for Nketiah. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Nketiah is Marseille’s main target, following their signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

The Hammers still have a chance but must move swiftly if they want the former Leeds loanee to lead their attack at the London Stadium this season. Santi Aouna noted that no agreement has been reached between Marseille and Arsenal yet.

The amount of Marseille’s bid for Nketiah is unclear, but the Gunners are reportedly seeking around £25-30 million. It is unlikely Marseille can meet this price after spending a similar amount on Greenwood, giving West Ham a significant opportunity to step in.

However, this scenario remains improbable. While Nketiah is on the Hammers’ shortlist, he isn’t a top priority, with players like Alexander Sorloth, Jhon Duran, and Samu Omorodion ranked higher in Julen Lopetegui’s pecking order.
