Agent Confirms Rangers Star Attracting Transfer Interest from France and Italy

It would not be surprising to see clubs from Europe’s top five leagues competing for Czech international Vaclav Cerny’s signature next summer, given his performances at Rangers.

Reports suggest that signing Cerny permanently would cost the Light Blues around £6.75 million, but whether the club will be willing to invest that sum remains uncertain.

While most fans would love to see the 27-year-old remain at Ibrox, his agent has cast doubt on the likelihood of that happening.

Rangers Move Unlikely for Cerny

Cerny’s agent, David Nehoda, has indicated that staying at Rangers beyond this season is an unlikely scenario.

Since Cerny is still under contract with Wolfsburg until 2027, Nehoda believes the Bundesliga side may want to recall him.

Additionally, the winger has already attracted interest from clubs in France and Italy, with aspirations of returning to one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Speaking to Czech media, as reported by the Daily Record (8 March), Nehoda said:

“I can’t say what will happen next, but I don’t think it’s very realistic for him to stay at Rangers.

His contract at Wolfsburg ends in the summer of 2027, so I would assume that the club will want to recall him, or there will be interested parties who would like to buy him.

There’s already interest from France and Italy. I know Vaclav’s ambitions—to return to one of the top five leagues in Europe.”

Rangers Fans Want a Permanent Move

Many Rangers supporters would love to see Cerny remain at Ibrox, and with the expected takeover by 49ers Enterprises, there is hope that a permanent deal could be secured.

The American consortium’s financial backing could provide the necessary funds to keep the Czech forward at the club.

If the new owners have genuine ambition, they must do everything possible to retain the 27-year-old, given his consistent goal contributions this season.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, key figures in the 49ers group, will need to show intent once they take control.

Dismissing the prospect of signing Cerny due to his price tag would be a mistake.

A Standout Performer

While several Rangers players have struggled with inconsistency this season, Cerny has been one of the few bright spots.

He recently showcased his quality in the Europa League, scoring twice in Rangers’ 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce away from home on 6 March.

Interim manager Barry Ferguson has been making tactical adjustments since taking charge, just as Philippe Clement did before his dismissal.

However, one constant has been reliance on Cerny to deliver when it matters.

Rangers must now convince the 27-year-old that Ibrox is the right place for him to continue his career.
