Alan Myers: Everton Aware of Maupay Post, Internal Action to Follow

Everton Acknowledge Neal Maupay's Post Following Nottingham Forest Defeat, Says Alan Myers

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers provided an update after Neal Maupay joked about smiling when Everton lose, following their 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on 29 December.

Myers revealed the Toffees are aware of Maupay’s social media comments and will handle the issue internally.

Writing on his personal X account on 30 December, Myers stated: “I understand Everton are aware of Maupay’s social media post, and the matter will be dealt with internally and privately.”

Everton must take action against Maupay, who is on loan at Olympique Marseille after leaving the club in the summer.

Although the 28-year-old isn’t currently with the squad, he remains associated with the Toffees, making his remarks after the Goodison Park defeat unacceptable.

If Marseille doesn’t activate a permanent transfer, Maupay is expected to return to Everton at the end of the season, though it seems unlikely he’ll continue there.

The Toffees are in dire need of a reliable striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling for form and Beto yet to impress since his 2023 move from Udinese.

Additionally, Armando Broja, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea, has been sidelined for most of the season due to injuries.

Maupay, known for his provocative comments, has stirred controversy before.

Everton must decide how to address his behavior, with disciplinary measures potentially on the horizon.
