Journalist Reveals Leeds Attacker is Open to Contract Extension and ‘Doesn’t Want to Leave’

Patrick Bamford has yet to make an appearance for Daniel Farke’s Leeds United side this season, having spent much of pre-season recovering from injury.

He also missed Leeds’ playoff campaign last term.

Bamford’s current contract at Elland Road runs until the end of the 2025/26 season, and extending his deal is reportedly a priority for the club [Ben Jacobs, 6 September].

Football broadcaster Jacobs has emphasized that Bamford is committed to staying at Leeds.

Speaking to Give Me Sport (6 September), Jacobs said: “He’s willing to extend and has never had an issue playing in the Championship compared to other options.

He’s very loyal to Leeds and doesn’t want to go anywhere at this stage.”

Amid transfer rumors, Bamford’s loyalty to Leeds stands out, especially as several teammates left following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

While his commitment is admirable, loyalty alone shouldn’t guarantee him a new contract. Bamford must prove his value to Farke’s squad in the coming weeks.

Currently, the former England international appears to have fallen behind Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe in the Leeds pecking order and will likely have to be patient before securing a regular starting role again.

With nearly two years remaining on his contract, Leeds have the luxury of time before making any final decisions regarding Bamford’s future.

The club’s primary goal is to secure promotion back to the Premier League, and it remains uncertain if Bamford would be a key player in the top flight should they succeed.

However, if Leeds fail to earn promotion again, Bamford could play a significant role in their efforts to rebuild.

For now, there is no immediate need to rush a decision on Bamford’s future.
