Newcastle United remain linked with numerous players as the January transfer window progresses.

Although the window has been open for over three weeks, the club has yet to bring in any new signings.

Meanwhile, Alex Murphy and Isaac Hayden have departed, joining Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth, respectively.

Manager Eddie Howe addressed the club’s transfer approach, emphasizing the importance of adhering to Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

“Trading is essential, both in and out, to the PSR model,” Howe said.

“The days when teams don’t sell players, unless your revenue streams are massive, are gone.

“This doesn’t mean we can’t make significant signings or bring in players ready to perform immediately, but we can’t do all of that simultaneously.

Our revenue streams aren’t where we want them yet, and we’re working on growing them. Trading in and out will be vital.

“Hopefully, we won’t be forced to sell key players. Ideally, we’ll operate in a more stable environment, but there are no guarantees. We’ll do our best.

There will be twists and turns, but the goal internally is to strengthen the squad. If we can, we will. If not, we won’t.”

Viktor Gyökeres to Newcastle – FALSE

Reports from FootballTransfers suggested that Newcastle were pursuing Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres, as Alexander Isak was rumored to be leaving.

Newcastle was reportedly leading the chase after discussions with Sporting Lisbon.

Gyökeres has an £85 million release clause, which could drop to between £58.6m and £62.8m in the summer due to a gentleman’s agreement.

However, Isak is not leaving. The striker has three years remaining on his contract, and Newcastle is not currently considering Gyökeres as an option.
