This season, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has offered opportunities to promising talents like Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear, drawing attention to these young players’ potential.
While Moore and Lankshear have caught the spotlight, there’s another promising prospect to watch as well.
Moore and Lankshear have both earned Postecoglou’s trust at Tottenham. Lankshear, in particular, has made headlines, having been included in two Premier League matchday squads this season.
His strong performance leading the line in Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros in the Europa League further demonstrated his promise.
The 19-year-old forward has proven his scoring ability with an impressive 26 goals in 34 appearances for Tottenham’s Under-21 team, and it’s likely fans will see more of him as the season unfolds.
Seventeen-year-old Moore, another standout, has also been impressive in his appearances.
He has made seven senior appearances already this season, including starts in Europa League matches against Ferencvaros and AZ Alkmaar, where he showcased his skill and composure on the field.
Despite his efforts, Moore narrowly missed out on recording an assist after Timo Werner failed to convert his well-placed cross in the Ferencvaros match.
However, his contributions haven’t gone unnoticed, as he also made brief Premier League appearances against Brentford, Manchester United, and Brighton, proving he can rise to the challenge in high-stakes games.
Moore’s determination and skill have drawn praise at Tottenham, and many believe he is poised to become the next star from Spurs’ youth system.
As Tottenham gears up for a match against Crystal Palace, Moore is in contention for a starting role.
Postecoglou has commended Moore’s maturity and resilience, noting that the forward handles situations well for someone of his age. “I think Mikey just wants to be Mikey,” said Postecoglou.
“He’s very mature for a 17-year-old. Sometimes young players are exciting but have pitfalls down the road, but I don’t see that with him. At 17, you think about what he could become by 21, and hopefully, I’m still the manager then!”
In addition to Moore and Lankshear, another young forward attracting attention is Dane Scarlett, who is currently gaining experience on loan at Oxford United.
Scarlett has been highly regarded since his time under former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, who compared him to Marcus Rashford in 2021.
Though Scarlett has not yet secured a permanent spot in the Tottenham lineup, his loan spell at Oxford United has been productive, and he continues to show promise.
Tottenham commentator John Wenham has praised Scarlett’s performances at Oxford, noting his popularity with England’s youth teams.
Scarlett recently captained the England Under-20s and was quickly called up to the Under-21 squad, where he made an immediate impact by scoring.
Wenham expressed confidence in Scarlett’s development, saying, “England love him; they absolutely love him. His recent form has been fantastic for his confidence.
He scored a fantastic header against West Brom, and that has kept him motivated.”
Wenham highlighted that regular playing time is critical for Scarlett’s progress, saying, “He just needs to be out there, playing football, because he knows how to find the back of the net. He’s proving it each time he plays for England and Oxford United.”
With Moore, Lankshear, and Scarlett, Tottenham has a wealth of young talent rising through the ranks, positioning them well for future success on both the domestic and international stages.
