Rangers are reportedly considering a surprise move to appoint Slaven Bilic as their next manager, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Ibrox hierarchy are now using the October international break to search for a new boss, and Bilic has emerged as a shock contender.

However, both Gerrard and Muscat are reportedly facing tax complications stemming from their managerial spells in the Middle East.

Although Bilic’s potential appointment would be seen as unexpected — given his lack of previous ties to Rangers and recent inactivity — he is viewed as an experienced candidate capable of bringing stability and discipline to a struggling side.

The club’s board is still evaluating several options, and no clear frontrunner has emerged yet.

Whoever takes charge will lead Rangers in their next fixture on October 18, when they host Dundee United in the SPFL, followed by a crucial Europa League clash against Brann the following week.
