Newcastle United are targeting a return for Elliot Anderson following his remarkable rise at Nottingham Forest.
Despite Football Insider reporting that Newcastle United’s pursuit of Elliot Anderson is proving difficult, Eddie Howe remains determined to bring the talented midfielder back to St James’ Park.
Former Manchester United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle are eager to re-sign Anderson from Nottingham Forest, where he has continued to impress.

Speaking on the podcast, Brown explained: “If an opportunity arose for Elliot Anderson to leave Nottingham Forest, Newcastle would certainly be among the clubs trying to sign him.
Manchester United have also shown interest, and I expect other members of the traditional top six to monitor his situation closely.
He’s evolving into one of the best young midfielders in Europe.”
Brown added that Howe’s admiration for Anderson remains strong, noting that the Newcastle manager would jump at the chance to bring him back if a deal became feasible. “Howe’s a huge fan of him,” he said.
“If there was even the slightest possibility of re-signing Anderson, Newcastle would definitely explore it.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s interest in bolstering their midfield has also been highlighted by reports involving Juventus star Manuel Locatelli.
According to sources, the Italian international would reject any potential move to Tyneside during upcoming transfer windows.
Locatelli is understood to prefer staying in Italy, which indirectly underscores Newcastle’s intent to prioritise a homegrown option like Anderson.
The Magpies are keen to strengthen their midfield depth, as injuries to key players such as Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, or Sandro Tonali could derail their impressive start to the season.
