Everton’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur has intensified frustrations at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with fans growing increasingly concerned over the team’s lack of attacking threat.

The Toffees have struggled for goals all season, prompting fresh calls for the club to recruit a proven striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Recent reports suggest that Ivan Toney could be set for a Premier League return, as the striker is considering a loan move away from Al-Ahli to boost his chances of reclaiming a spot in the England national team.

Football Insider revealed on 21 October that David Moyes is eager to sign a new striker for Everton, with plans to replace underperforming forward Beto with a more reliable goalscorer.

According to the same outlet, Everton are now putting plans in motion to pursue Toney in January.

A report from 22 October confirmed that the Merseyside club have a “concrete interest” in the 28-year-old and are expected to explore the possibility of a loan deal when the mid-season window opens.

Moyes is said to be “desperate” to add a proven finisher to his squad, with both Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to find consistency in front of goal.

Former Manchester United and West Ham senior scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that signing Toney on loan would be a “no-brainer” for Everton given his record and Premier League experience.

“Ivan Toney is certainly someone Everton will look at,” Brown explained. “Moyes is desperate to bring in a new striker, and Toney is one of the best available options based on his goalscoring record.

If he’s available on loan, it’s an opportunity Everton simply can’t pass up. The market is tough, and other strikers would cost massive fees that the club can’t afford. Plus, Toney is an Everton-type player—he’d fit in perfectly.”

Moyes has previously praised Toney, describing him as a “really intelligent” forward with “a lot of good qualities” as a footballer.

Everton are not alone in their pursuit, however. West Ham and Tottenham are also monitoring Toney’s situation closely.

Brown revealed on 14 October that West Ham are tracking the striker in case he pushes for a return to England, with neither Callum Wilson nor Niclas Füllkrug delivering consistent goals for the Hammers.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have also been linked with Toney, with talk of a potential reunion with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as they continue their search for a natural number nine.

Although Thomas Tuchel previously suggested Toney could feature for his squad even while playing in Saudi Arabia, that position has since changed, reportedly leaving the player frustrated.

If Toney does force a Premier League return, a three-way battle involving Everton, West Ham, and Tottenham looks increasingly likely.
