Everton are reportedly open to making a surprise move for Manchester City’s John Stones, as the club prepares to make one or two headline signings during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The issue is his injury record—fewer than 10 starts in the last two seasons—which makes him a risk.

Still, if he becomes available, Everton would be open to the prospect.”

While Stones’ injury history is a valid concern—he’s made only 11 Premier League appearances this season—his experience and quality are undeniable.

Since moving to City from Everton in 2016 for £47.5 million, the 30-year-old defender has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell, winning 17 major honours.

His technical skill, composure, and versatility have been key components of City’s success under Pep Guardiola.

Teammate Jack Grealish previously described Stones as “unbelievable” following City’s 2023 FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.

If he can regain full fitness, he could significantly bolster Moyes’ defensive options.

While signing Stones would be a gamble due to his injury track record and reported £250,000-per-week wages, it may be a calculated risk worth taking for Everton—especially if the fee is manageable.
