Everton Offered Chance to Secure Affordable Midfielder Signing from Brazil – Report

Everton Presented with Opportunity to Sign Botafogo Midfielder Danilo Barbosa, Reports Sunday Mirror

The newspaper reported on 26 January (page 71) that a deal for 28-year-old Danilo Barbosa could be finalized for just £2 million before the winter transfer window closes.

The defensive midfielder has also been offered to Sheffield United and Leeds United, as his contract is set to expire in December 2025.

The Serie A club is open to offers for the former Brazil under-23 international, leaving him as a potential option for Everton until the 3 February deadline.

Everton Offered Opportunity to Sign Danilo Barbosa

With Everton’s financial challenges in recent years, the club must remain cautious in the transfer market, even with the Friedkins now at the helm.

Securing an experienced player like Barbosa for just £2 million could be a smart move before the window shuts.

Barbosa boasts experience across several top clubs, including Nice, Benfica, Valencia, and Braga, and could add English football to his résumé.

His availability comes at a critical moment for Everton, especially after Orel Mangala’s injury in the closing stages of the victory over Brighton.

It remains to be seen if Barbosa is the type of player David Moyes will target in January, or if another English club will seize the opportunity to sign him.
