Speculation grows over Everton’s reported pursuit of Nathan Ake.
David Moyes will be eager to see further additions arrive at Finch Farm in the coming days, particularly after Everton’s mixed start to the season.
While the Toffees have strengthened certain areas of their attack during recent weeks, defensive injuries have left Moyes with a squad that still looks somewhat unbalanced and in need of reinforcements.

Everton’s interest in Ake dismissed
According to BBC Sport journalist Giulia Bould, Everton are not pursuing the Dutch defender. Speaking on X, she explained: “It is my understanding Everton remain focused on securing a right winger and a right back this summer.
Work is ongoing to secure players before deadline day. I also understand Nathan Ake is not a target.”
The update will come as a blow to supporters who hoped Ake could follow Jack Grealish in making the move from City to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
With Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko sidelined, the need for defensive reinforcements remains clear, but Everton’s recruitment priorities lie elsewhere.
Right-back remains a priority
Nathan Patterson has only just returned to training, and his persistent injury troubles mean Everton are determined to add reliable depth at right-back.
The club even came close to signing Kenny Tete, but Fulham tied him down to a new deal at the last moment.
A new addition in that area would also allow Jake O’Brien to shift back into his preferred central role, indirectly easing pressure in defence without necessarily signing a new centre-half.
At the same time, Moyes continues to demand the arrival of a right winger, having pushed for fresh attacking width throughout the summer. Everton are working behind the scenes to secure both positions before the 1 September deadline.
While the Ake rumours have now been quashed, Everton’s focus remains clear: strengthening full-back options and finally landing the winger Moyes has long wanted.
