Tottenham Hotspur are starting to make decisive moves in the transfer market following the official appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager.
The North London side are heading into what promises to be a fascinating 2025/26 season. Chairman Daniel Levy made the bold decision to sack Ange Postecoglou, who only last season guided Spurs to their first major trophy in nearly two decades — lifting the Europa League in a memorable final in Bilbao.
It also marked their first European silverware since 1984.
Despite that success, Postecoglou’s time in the Premier League ended in disappointment. Tottenham endured a historically poor domestic campaign, finishing 17th in the table and suffering a staggering 22 league defeats — their worst record in recent memory.
Frank’s appointment has been met with a mixed response. While some have praised the move, the new boss faces an uphill battle in winning over a squad that had clearly bonded with Postecoglou.
The emotional connection between the players and their former manager has left questions over how quickly Frank can unify the dressing room.
Former Spurs chief scout Mick Brown gave his take on the situation, speaking to Football Insider:

Fortunately for Frank, it appears the Tottenham hierarchy is already taking steps to strengthen his hand.
Reports suggest Levy and his recruitment team are actively pursuing new signings to equip the Danish manager ahead of his first Champions League campaign.
Sky Sports recently revealed that Spurs have opened talks to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, while Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl confirmed ongoing negotiations over a potential permanent deal for young French talent Mathys Tel.
In a significant development, The Mirror and journalist Darren Lewis report that Tottenham have now submitted a £70 million bid for Mbeumo.
The offer includes an initial £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons, matching Brentford’s valuation of the Cameroonian international. Spurs are hoping to fend off interest from Manchester United, who are also keen on the player.
However, the transfer isn’t finalized yet. United have reportedly offered Mbeumo a more lucrative financial package, with potential earnings of up to £200,000 per week including bonuses — significantly higher than Spurs’ proposed £140,000 per week, not including incentives.
Despite the salary gap, Frank is personally pushing for the deal. The 51-year-old worked closely with Mbeumo during their shared time at Brentford, where the attacker played a vital role under his management.
Frank hopes that their strong previous relationship, along with the prospect of playing Champions League football, could help tip the scales in Tottenham’s favor.
While Manchester remains Mbeumo’s preferred destination for now, Tottenham are still very much in the race — and the presence of his former boss could yet prove a decisive factor.
As things stand, Spurs appear determined to lure the 25-year-old away from both Brentford and United’s grasp, in what would be a statement signing for their new era under Frank.
