So far, the Foxes have signed six players: Bobby De-Cordova Reid, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, Facundo Buonanotte, and Oliver Skipp.
However, they are still in search of additional attacking reinforcements.
A striker remains Cooper’s top priority, but securing one has proven challenging.
Efforts to sign players like Wilfried Zaha and Adam Hložek have reportedly fallen through, and now another target is in doubt.
Leicester City’s top transfer target could be heading to Portugal. One of Leicester’s main targets is Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis.
According to The Telegraph, Leicester submitted a bid of around £23 million last week, but the Greek club is holding out for closer to £30 million.
While Ipswich Town were also rumored to be interested, it now appears that Leicester may face tougher competition from Sporting CP.
According to Record, the 23-year-old striker is being considered as a backup option for the Portuguese club if their pursuit of Victor Roque from Barcelona falls through.
The question remains: Can Leicester afford to sign their top target? While adding a forward is high on Leicester’s list, there are concerns about whether they have the financial capacity to finalize the deal.
Their most recent acquisition, Oliver Skipp, cost a reported £20 million with add-ons, according to Sky Sports.
However, profit and sustainability rules are looming over the club, and with a points deduction possibly on the horizon, finances are tight.
Ioannidis, who scored 23 goals across all competitions last season, would be a much-needed addition to Leicester’s squad.
Currently, the only striking options are Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Tom Cannon.
With Daka sidelined for several months due to injury and Cannon not favored by Cooper, Vardy is the only reliable striker available.
These factors could complicate Leicester’s search for a striker, as other clubs may demand higher fees, knowing the Foxes’ pressing need.
