Bradley Varnam, Leicester City’s matchday voice for nearly 30 years, dies after short illness
Leicester City fans have paid heartfelt tributes following the passing of the club’s long-serving stadium announcer, Bradley Varnam, at the age of 56.
Varnam dedicated nearly three decades to the Foxes, from 1997 until last summer, becoming a beloved figure at both Filbert Street and the King Power Stadium.
His distinctive matchday introductions remain etched in the memories of thousands of supporters.
After a short illness, Varnam passed away on Saturday evening at Leicester Royal Infirmary, his family confirmed.
In a statement, Leicester City said:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our long-serving Stadium PA Announcer, Bradley Varnam, who has died at the age of 56 following a short illness.
A familiar and much-loved voice to Foxes fans for over 25 years, Bradley began at Filbert Street in 1997 and continued after our move to King Power Stadium in 2002.
His unmistakable style became an enduring part of the matchday experience for generations.
His voice was the soundtrack to countless moments in the club’s history – from the highs to the lows. Players, staff, and supporters will sorely miss his presence.
Away from the microphone, Bradley was known for his humour, boundless energy, friendship, and deep affection for Leicester City.
His contribution went far beyond matchdays, and he will be fondly remembered by all who worked with him.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Brad’s wife, Sarah, his children, Zach and Megan, and his many loved ones.

Supporters have since flooded social media with messages honouring Varnam and celebrating his iconic voice, which will forever be part of the club’s history.
