West Ham propose lucrative deal for striker with 78 goal contributions, aiming to make him a top earner.
West Ham leave no doubt in their pursuit of a new striker this month.
After long-term injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug, West Ham United have been actively searching for reinforcements since the transfer window opened earlier this year.
With less than two weeks remaining in the window, manager Graham Potter has only Danny Ings available as a senior striker.
While the club has shown interest in players such as Evan Ferguson, Taiwo Awoniyi, Marcus Rashford, and Rodrigo Muniz, none appear close to joining Potter’s squad.
Now, it seems West Ham have identified their top target. Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has emerged as the primary focus, with the Hammers determined to secure the Dutch international before the February 3rd transfer deadline.
According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are demanding €35 million for Brobbey, a fee West Ham are reportedly willing to meet.
Additionally, the club has offered the 22-year-old a weekly wage of €100,000 in discussions with his representatives. If accepted, this would make Brobbey one of the highest earners at the club.
While it remains uncertain if the offer will convince Brobbey to make the move, West Ham have made their intentions clear.
They consider him an ideal fit for Potter’s vision for the team and are eager to have him in claret and blue by the end of January.
Brobbey has endured a challenging season in the Netherlands, managing only three goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
However, his overall record of 78 goal contributions in 148 games for Ajax is notable for a player still developing.
Should West Ham finalize the deal, Brobbey would become the third player to join from Ajax in the past two years, following the arrivals of Edson Álvarez and Mohammed Kudus.
His signing would signify the club’s ambition to strengthen their squad and continue Potter’s transformation of the team.
