West Ham secure loan for international ‘Machine,’ medical set within 48 hours – report

Ajax striker Brian Brobbey set for medical ahead of West Ham loan move, says Graeme Bailey.

According to a report on the TBR Football website (24 January), Graham Potter was presented with 20 potential players, but he ultimately chose the Dutchman for a loan move.

West Ham United has been linked with signing a new striker since the winter transfer window opened, with names like Jhon Duran and Andre Silva being mentioned as possible recruits for the London Stadium.

West Ham and Graham Potter are beginning to take action in the transfer market.

The 2024/25 season has been challenging for West Ham fans, with Potter’s side currently sitting 14th in the Premier League.

While much of the damage was done by his predecessor, Julen Lopetegui, Potter now has the task of steering the club back on course.

With Niclas Fullkrug sidelined due to injury for a long period, Potter’s situation has become more complicated, making the acquisition of a new number nine a welcome development.

For several seasons, West Ham has struggled with a “striker curse,” with players like Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings failing to meet expectations.

Although Brobbey may not be a widely known name, his impressive record – including 52 goals during his time at Ajax – speaks volumes.

Fortuna Sittard manager Danny Buijs has even described him as a “machine,” which suggests he could make a significant impact at West Ham [United in Focus, 14 March2024].
