Leeds United Set to Sign Bundesliga Veteran

Following a report by The Leeds Press earlier today that Leeds United were targeting Joshua Guilavogui, TeamTalk has now confirmed that Farke has approved plans to sign the French international on a free transfer.

Initially, Farke was hesitant to sign a free agent due to concerns about the time it would take for them to regain fitness after being without a club.

However, with midfield depth becoming an urgent issue, Farke has given the green light to the move. Leeds are now close to securing the services of Guilavogui.

Guilavogui, capped seven times for France, was previously the captain at VfL Wolfsburg, where he made over 250 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

The 34-year-old has also played for Atletico Madrid and most recently for Mainz.

After his contract with Mainz expired at the end of the 2023/24 season, Guilavogui has been without a club, but he is now set to join Leeds United on a short-term deal.

It’s important to note that the Guilavogui deal is not finalized.

Leeds United could still consider bringing in former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin, who has reportedly been training with the club.

Regardless, it’s clear that Leeds will sign a free agent midfielder, with Farke confirming this during his press conference.

“Yeah, it’s a bit closer. By the end of next week, we’ll have a decision in any direction,” Farke said. “But it could happen sooner, so let’s see what the next days bring.”
