Dominic Solanke May Be Offloaded to Pave Way for New Striker at Tottenham This Summer
Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (10 April), speculation continues to swirl around manager Ange Postecoglou’s future.
Yet, he may not be the only key figure departing the club in the near future.
Significant changes to the squad are expected this summer, with Richarlison reportedly available for a reduced fee.
The Brazilian forward, who arrived at Spurs with high expectations, has struggled to make a consistent impact, leading to growing suggestions that the club could cash in on him.
However, Richarlison isn’t the only forward whose future at Tottenham is uncertain. Solanke, who has only been with the club for a single season, may also be on the chopping block.
His position is now under review as Spurs eye potential reinforcements in attack.
According to TBR Football (6 April), Tottenham, along with Liverpool and Newcastle United, recently sent scouts to observe Liam Delap during Ipswich Town’s 2-1 loss to Wolves in the Premier League at Portman Road on Saturday (5 April).
Delap, currently a Manchester City player on loan at Ipswich, could be available for just £30 million if Ipswich are relegated, a detail noted by The Guardian. Manchester United and Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring the striker.
Tottenham might need to spend up to £60 million to secure Delap’s services.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, former Spurs scout Bryan King stated that either Richarlison or Solanke would need to be sold to make room for Delap’s arrival.
“Before Tottenham can sign anybody, they have to sort out Solanke and Richarlison’s futures,” said King.
“Richarlison has to be moved on. He cost a lot, hasn’t delivered, and isn’t the kind of player Spurs need. Still, signing Delap without offloading one of them would be a mistake.”
Despite Ipswich’s difficult season, Delap has shown strong promise.
For Tottenham, he could be a dynamic addition, but ideally as a replacement for Richarlison, allowing Solanke more time to prove himself after just one year in North London.
