Forgotten Rangers loanee Rabbi Matondo looks set to return to Ibrox this summer after Hannover confirmed they are preparing a squad overhaul.
The Welsh winger moved to the German second-tier side in January, with Hannover holding an option to make the move permanent for around £1 million.
However, after a poor campaign, the club has parted ways with manager Andre Breitenreiter and plans significant changes ahead of next season.
Hannover’s sporting director, Marcus Mann, has strongly hinted that Matondo will not be retained, with the player having made just two starts in Bundesliga 2 since his arrival.
Mann said: “We are, of course, extremely dissatisfied with how the last few weeks have gone. Now, it’s about finishing the season in a proper manner.
We will rely on the players who will be with us next season during the remaining games. Those who are on loan or whose contracts are expiring will not be used.”
Matondo initially cost Rangers £3 million when he joined the Scottish club three years ago.
Despite his struggles for consistent form and fitness during his time at Ibrox, he still has one year left on his contract, leaving the club with a decision to make regarding his future.
