Borson highlighted that Thelwell’s experience managing within Everton’s financial limitations could be beneficial for Rangers, who often operate in a similar space in terms of transfer strategy.

He also noted that these recent appointments help generate a sense of momentum, something the club has been lacking in recent times.

“Momentum is really important in these scenarios,” Borson told Football Insider. “They’ve struggled to build any for some time, but these building blocks make the club more appealing.

Thelwell likely has good insights into value signings—players who could be ideal for Rangers’ model. His experience should prove invaluable.”

He added that Rangers’ run to the Europa League quarter-finals also contributes to a more positive perception of the club.

Additionally, Borson praised Stewart’s appointment, noting his experience and suggesting it indicates the club is heading in a promising direction.

“Of course, new ownership might bring different perspectives or personnel preferences,” Borson continued.

“But it’s difficult to argue against the experience that Stewart brings.

Overall, it feels like progress is being made, though we’re all observing from the outside.”

In player news, both Rangers and Celtic are reportedly in pursuit of Crystal Palace youngster Jesse Derry.

As revealed by Football Insider on 15 April, the two Glasgow giants have joined several European clubs in tracking the 17-year-old talent.

Derry turned down a professional contract at Selhurst Park, sparking widespread interest.
