Rangers and 49ers Enterprises Target Athletic Summer Signing
Rangers, backed by the 49ers Enterprises, are reportedly eyeing an “incredibly athletic” signing in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to journalist Sebastien Denis.
The Ibrox side is approaching the conclusion of a largely underwhelming campaign.
The season began with Philippe Clement at the helm, whose tenure saw the club fall too far behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Following his departure, Barry Ferguson took over in an interim role, bringing some stability and leading Rangers to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
However, the club is now expected to appoint a permanent manager this summer.
Recent reports have linked Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl to the role, with the German coach likely to leave his current position at the end of the season.
Other candidates reportedly in the frame include former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and German manager Marco Rose, both seen as leading options as the 49ers prepare for their first full summer of strategic planning at the club.
Player recruitment is also a key focus. Rangers have been linked with Bobby Clark, the former Liverpool academy product currently at RB Salzburg.
Clark has struggled for minutes in Austria, managing just two appearances from the bench in the Bundesliga this season, but could be a target to strengthen the squad’s depth.
Now, a new report from Denis on X (formerly Twitter) claims Rangers are seriously considering a move for Estoril defender Kevin Boma.
The 22-year-old is reportedly drawing interest from several clubs, including Basel and Union Berlin, but Rangers are thought to be keen on securing his services.
Denis describes Boma as “already one of the best defenders in Portugal,” with Estoril expected to demand around £6.8 million for his signature.
The price tag reflects the defender’s growing reputation and potential, but it is considered reasonable for a player with his attributes and future upside.
Boma, who has represented France at Under-18 level and now plays for Togo at senior international level, has caught the attention of journalist Kai Watson, who labelled him “incredibly athletic.”
Though not the most high-profile name linked to Rangers, Boma could be a significant long-term asset.
