A “promising” Glasgow Rangers player may delay making a decision about his Ibrox future until Russell Martin is dismissed, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Russell Martin’s position as Rangers manager is becoming increasingly untenable, with the 39-year-old enduring a torrid spell since taking over before the 2025/26 season.

The Englishman’s tenure has been plagued by poor results and mounting fan frustration, and there is a growing sense of inevitability about his departure unless performances improve significantly.

Reports suggest that the club has already begun identifying potential replacements.

Former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche has emerged as a serious contender for the role, with the experienced manager reportedly keen on returning to the dugout after leaving Goodison Park.

Nsiala waiting for a managerial change

Speaking to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke revealed that Clinton Nsiala is holding off on deciding his future until Martin’s situation is resolved, as a new manager could reopen the door to first-team opportunities.

“Obviously, he hasn’t featured under Russell Martin since the former Southampton manager’s arrival,” O’Rourke said.

“It doesn’t appear he has a long-term future under Martin, but things at Ibrox could change quickly if a new manager is appointed.

“That would offer a clean slate for everyone, and Nsiala will be waiting to see what happens because it could give him a chance to work his way back into contention.

While Martin is still in charge, I don’t think he’ll reconsider Nsiala, so the defender will likely remain on the sidelines. But with the pressure Martin is under, things could shift rapidly.”

Nsiala, described by The Rangers Review as a “promising” player, has been a noticeable absentee this season.

The 21-year-old centre-back hasn’t made a single appearance in the current campaign, which underlines Martin’s lack of faith in him.

If the manager remains in charge much longer, Nsiala may have little choice but to seek opportunities elsewhere.

For the young defender’s career, a managerial change could be crucial.

Many supporters share the same sentiment, believing a fresh start under new leadership is urgently needed.

It would be disappointing for Rangers to lose Nsiala, especially given that the £10,500-a-week defender only joined from AC Milan last year.
