Leicester City Transfer Update: Agent Confirms ‘Contact’ Made for ‘Promising’ Player

Leicester City are deeply embroiled in a relegation battle this season, currently enduring a seven-game losing streak in the Premier League under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

To reverse their fortunes, the Foxes have secured the signing of Woyo Coulibaly from Serie A side Parma.

Further signings are expected this month, with reports indicating Leicester are targeting three key positions to bolster their squad.

On the other hand, departures are also anticipated. Tom Cannon is set to join Sheffield United in a deal worth approximately £10 million.

However, Cannon may not be the only player leaving the Midlands before the transfer window closes.

Caleb Okoli Faces Uncertain Future

Caleb Okoli, who joined Leicester City from Atalanta BC during the summer of 2024, is already facing questions about his future. Previous reports suggest Parma has made Okoli a transfer priority.

Since Van Nistelrooy’s arrival, the centre-back has fallen out of favour, becoming the fourth-choice option in his position.

Italian outlet Tutto Cagliari has now reported that Cagliari have entered the race for Okoli.

His agent confirmed the interest, stating, “Yes, at the moment there has been contact from them. Let’s see what can happen by the end of the transfer window.”

Although Okoli was once considered a promising talent, a sale could benefit Leicester if they secure a reasonable fee, especially since Van Nistelrooy appears to favour other defenders.

Other Potential Departures

In addition to Cannon and Okoli, another Foxes player could leave this January.

Wout Faes, like Okoli, has attracted interest from Italy. Reports suggest Lazio have made a loan offer for the Belgian defender.

However, Leicester’s transfer budget is expected to remain tight, increasing only if players are sold.

As such, a loan move for Faes may not be practical. If Van Nistelrooy is open to letting him go, the club should prioritize a permanent transfer to generate funds for reinforcements.

Leicester’s activity in the final weeks of the transfer window will likely prove crucial in determining their prospects for survival this season.
