Exclusive: Brighton’s Position on Facundo Buonanotte Revealed Amid Leicester’s Interest in Permanent Deal
Facundo Buonanotte has been Leicester City's standout player this season by far.
The 19-year-old, who joined Leicester in the summer with modest expectations, has quickly become a fan favorite.
Buonanotte has tallied three goals and two assists across all competitions and has shown he can compete confidently at the Premier League level.
Initially, Steve Cooper was cautious about starting him, but the Argentine has since become one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Given his impressive performances, Leicester fans are urging the club to secure Buonanotte on a permanent basis.
With hopes high that he might extend his stay at King Power Stadium beyond the season, we reached out to Graeme Bailey for the latest update.
However, it appears that any chance of Leicester signing Buonanotte may already be off the table.
According to Bailey, Brighton has no intention of selling the young attacking midfielder, firmly including him in their future plans.
In an interview with Leicester City News, Bailey stated, “Leicester would love to keep Buonanotte long-term, as it would indicate they’ve stayed in the Premier League.
However, even if they do, it won’t affect his status—he won’t be staying.”
Bailey added that Leicester isn’t the only club interested in Buonanotte.
Several high-profile European teams have also shown interest, though they, too, face little chance of landing him.
“Buonanotte is highly valued by Brighton, and clubs like Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund have taken notice of his performances.
However, Brighton has made it clear that they’re not open to any offers. He is simply not for sale,” Bailey explained.
Buonanotte will miss Leicester’s first match after the international break when the Foxes host former manager Enzo Maresca and his Chelsea squad.
The midfielder received his fifth yellow card of the season during Leicester’s loss to Manchester United, triggering a one-game suspension under Premier League regulations.
He will be eligible to return for Leicester’s away match against Brentford on November 30.
Despite the setback, Leicester fans remain hopeful that Buonanotte will continue to be a key player in their lineup for the rest of the season, even if his long-term future seems destined to remain with Brighton.
