Club ‘definitely’ decides to let Tottenham target leave after repeated squad exclusion – Romano
Tottenham Hotspur target attacking reinforcements, with Barcelona’s Ansu Fati on their radar.
TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, reports that Ansu Fati is among the attackers recently proposed to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spanish media suggest that Spurs have reignited their interest in Fati, who had previously been linked to the club before joining Brighton on loan.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has also provided an update on Fati and Barcelona’s position regarding his future.
Ansu Fati ‘Open to Exit’ Amid Tottenham Links
Romano revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that Fati was excluded from Barcelona’s squad for the fourth consecutive match.
He stated that the Catalan giants have “definitely opened doors to his exit,” leaving the decision on Fati’s next destination up to the player himself.
In addition to Tottenham, West Ham and Serie A side Como have also been linked with the 21-year-old.
However, former Barca star Cesc Fabregas, now involved with Como, dismissed the rumors, stating, “The links [between Como and Ansu] are not true. There is nothing at all.”
What Fati Could Bring to Tottenham
Fati, who was previously offered to Spurs in 2023, is versatile, capable of playing centrally or on the left wing.
Lionel Messi once described him as “fantastic” during his early days at Barcelona, and his skill set supports that reputation.
With excellent technique, acceleration, and dribbling ability, Fati also has the vision to exploit defensive gaps.
On his best days, he is nearly unstoppable. However, his injury history is a significant concern.
Fati’s spell with Brighton was disrupted by a calf injury, serving as a potential warning for Tottenham if they decide to pursue him.
Spurs Eyeing January Reinforcements
TBR Football also reports that Tottenham are actively working on several January signings.
A new defender remains a priority, with the club specifically targeting a left-sided player. Slovakian duo Milan Škriniar and David Hancko are among those being considered.
In terms of attacking reinforcements, AC Milan forward Noah Okafor has been suggested as another option alongside Fati.
Spurs are looking to strengthen their squad significantly as they aim to compete on multiple fronts in the second half of the season.
