Celtic Transfer Update: Leicester Boss Breaks Silence on Reo Hatate Amid Gustaf Lagerbielke Exit Plans
Leicester City boss Steve Cooper has remained tight-lipped about his next transfer move amid reports of interest in Celtic star Reo Hatate.
The Foxes, back in the Premier League after winning the Championship title last season, are keen to bolster their squad under Cooper, who took over from Enzo Maresca this summer.
The club has already signed Abdul Fatawa, Bobby Decordova-Reid, Michael Golding, and Caleb Okoli. However, reports from the south suggest City is eyeing a move for Hatate.
Speculation is mounting that a “big money offer” could be on the way to test Celtic’s resolve to keep the 26-year-old. When asked about specific names, Cooper avoided giving any details.
He told Leicester Live: “It’s not as clear as saying we need this position, that position.
We need certain profiles and certain additions of attributes we need to bring into the squad.”
In addition to Hatate, Kyogo Furuhashi has been linked with a move away from Parkhead. Urawa Red Diamonds are reportedly interested in the striker and are considering a bid to bring him back to the J-League.
As the first weekend of the new Premiership season approaches, Furuhashi has changed agents. Previously represented by ‘MORE THAN SPORT GMBH,’ he has now shifted to CAA Base amid ongoing speculation about his future.
One player likely to leave this summer is Gustaf Lagerbielke. Brendan Rodgers has stated that the club is open to allowing the center-back to depart after a disappointing first season in Glasgow’s east end.
Hellas Verona and Parma are reportedly weighing up offers, and Tuttomercatoweb claims that Lecce is considering reviving their interest in the Celtic misfit after a move for the Swede collapsed in January.
Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino admitted: “We are looking for potential players who are up to the task. We cannot stay with two central defenders. We will sign two more.”
